Holistic Nutrition
At the clinic we look at what, when, where and how you eat. We also examine the post digestive effective - how eating and foods make you feel.. for example these effects could range from thirst or tiredness, heaviness or energised.
We give advice on what foods to eat and how to prepare them, as well as nutritional supplements to take. Although preference is always given to food based nutrition.
Common conditions that respond to nutritional changes include:
- IBS
- Constipation
- Diarrhea or loose stools
- Abdominal pain
- Bloating or discomfort
- Osteoporosis
- Arthritis and rheumatic pain
- Elevated Cholesterol
- Candida
- Gout
The fact is that foods can either help us or hinder us.
Digestion itself is a complicated process. In a matter of time what we eat becomes us. Depending on which type of food we put in our bodies it can take between a few hours and a few days for our food to be fully assimilated.
It can be difficult to know what the right food to eat is. This is because digestive discomfort often takes place up to 48 hours after we have eaten a particular food. Symptoms can be difficult to track because over many years of eating we can build up intolerances to foods that we were previously able to eat without any ill effects.
Strategies, diets and health choices that we advise on include:
- Paleo and low carb diets
- Sugar free food choices
- Intermittent fasting
- Vegan and vegetarian diet and food information
- Weight loss and weight gain
- Vitamin, mineral and essential fatty acid prescriptions
