  • Breath assisted releases

Shiatsu is a traditional therapy from Japan. Being Japanese - it is highly refined, well developed and technical and effective. As a traditional method of healing, it has been in continuous use for hundreds of years and has continued to evolve.

Shiatsu includes many methods that are unique to it as well as many modern therapeutic techniques that are used in osteopathy, massage, sports therapy and physiotherapy.

Shiatsu was originally developed for and by blind people. So that all blind people had a respected and useful place in society. It was thought that by the loss of one sense the other senses improved. It contains its own diagnostic and therapeutic methods.

Emotional Clearing

Our emotions are often expressed through our body with anger and frustration manifesting as tension, joy and happiness expressed through laughter, sadness and grief expressed through sighing and holding our breath, worry expressed by a furrowed brow. Shiatsu helps with many emotional conditions particularly stress, tension, anxiety, worry and grief.

In traditional medicine systems such as Oriental Medicine or Ayurveda, our emotions play a central role in diagnosis and treatment. These medical systems describe our anatomy in a different way, often referred to as the energy body. This is the meeting point between the mind and the body, where emotions are first expressed before they take physical form.

Shiatsu works directly on the energy body through the meridians and acupuncture points, helping to clear stuck emotions and create a free flow of energy in these pathways.

Shiatsu literally means finger pressure. Shiatsu helps with many conditions particularly stress, emotional upsets like anxiety and grief.
